Bridal Portraits
Because of the great demand for Chapel space, bridal portraits
on the Chapel grounds and in the adjoining arcades are limited
to Chapel brides by appointment only. Dressing facilities are

Religious Holidays
The university recognizes religious holidays according to this schedule.
Reservations
All events scheduled in Duke Chapel and on Chapel grounds must
be approved by Chapel ministers, musicians, or staff. Contact

Same Sex Unions
Consistent with the University's nondiscrimination policy, in December
2000, Duke University approved the celebration of same sex unions
in Duke Chapel for individuals who have a direct affiliation to
Duke (alumni, students, faculty, employees). The ceremony must be
presided over by clergy of a denomination that allows such unions.
The same rules and fees apply that are applicable for weddings
performed in the Chapel.

Ticket Information
Tickets are not required for Sunday services, Easter services
(including the sunrise service), Christmas Eve services, and many
musical presentations.
Tickets are required for special musical productions, such as
Handel’s Messiah, Choral Society of Durham concerts, and
North Carolina Boys Choir concerts. Please check the individual
listings in the Chapel concert schedule
for ticket information.
Tours
Guided tours of the Chapel are available to school groups, senior
citizens’ groups, and church groups of 12 to 50 people.
We limit our tours to the inside of the Chapel, for 30
to 45 minutes. Reservations must be made with the Visitor
and University Relations Specialist.
The Visitor and University Relations Specialist also
schedules walk-through tours of the Chapel for those with
groups exceeding 50 people and for chartered tour
groups or for those who have uncertain travel plans.
Brochures are made available, along with self-guided
tour sheets.
Many groups take advantage of the campus-wide tours offered through
the Admissions Office. These tours include the Chapel and other
points of interest on campus.
Weddings
The Chapel is a wonderful setting for wedding ceremonies for couples
affiliated with Duke University. The bride, the groom, or one
of their parents must be a graduate of Duke or full-time Duke
employee, or the bride and groom can be a full-time Duke student.
All affiliations are verified by the Events Coordinator and Wedding Director
before weddings are scheduled.
Weddings are scheduled no more than one year in advance,
with no waiting list.
