Duke and Durham are intimately connected. As Duke Chapel continues to embrace what it means to be a Christian community in service it must engage the city in which it resides, and that city is Durham.

Many in and around the Chapel have been serving Durham for years and yet there remain many ways for more to experience the blessing of serving others. There are literally hundreds of wonderful organizations working in both visible and invisible ways for justice in Durham. There are opportunities to reach out across social and economic boundaries and experience true Christian friendship.

Those who are connected with the Chapel are predominantly busy people. Some are downright frenetic. However, those who have made service to others a priority in their schedules have deeper, richer lives because of these encounters.
