Inaugural Recital of the Benjamin N. Duke Memorial Organ (Flentrop, 1976)
The first concert played on the organ was an informal preview for Duke
University students on December 6, 1976. It consisted of all of the
pieces on the dedication recital except a piece by Iain Hamilton
commissioned for the occasion. The organ was first officially played at
the Sunday-morning worship on Founders Day, December 12, 1976. The
inaugural recital was played at 5:00 p.m. that same afternoon by Fenner
