Climbing the Tower
Access to the top of the Chapel tower is closed to the
public. The small elevator was designed as a service elevator
rather than for tourists. The circular stairway to the top of
the tower is opened only at special times for Duke students (e.g.,
orientation and graduation). To schedule a climb for Duke students,
please read our Tower Climb Policy, and coordinate with Visitor
Services Specialist Layne Baker at layne.baker@duke.edu,
or at 919-681-9488.

Occasionally, media are granted access to the top of the
tower for shooting
the campus.

To reserve the Chapel for an service, concert or other event,
