Duke Chapel: Keeping the Heart of the University Listening to the Heart of God
Choral Vespers

The Duke Vespers Ensemble is a select group of singers specializing in Renaissance and 20th-century motets. It is directed by Allan Friedman, Associate Conductor of the Duke Chapel Choir.

The Vespers Ensemble leads the musical portion of the Choral Vespers worship service, which is celebrated in Duke Chapel every Thursday at 5:15 p.m. during the academic year. This thirty-minute candlelight service consists of scripture readings, prayers, and sacred music and is held in the intimate setting of the chancel. The Vespers Ensemble also presents an annual concert in Duke Chapel, which is free and open to all. Check the calendar for the latest date.
