Christian marriage is a solemn and public covenant in the presence
of God. The majestic structure of Duke University Chapel is a
facility which by its history, design, and construction is dedicated
to providing experiences and events that are enlightening,
spiritually uplifting, and truly memorable.
The Chapel provides a unique setting for approximately 100 weddings
each year. The bride, the groom, or their parents must have a
direct affiliation with Duke University in order to be married
in the Chapel. Before proceeding with any wedding plans, please
check with the Chapel Events Coordinator (see below) to determine
your eligibility.
Duke Chapel enjoys a tradition of excellence in music, which
it wishes to maintain in all events that involve music, including
weddings. Care must be taken to respect weddings in the Chapel
as worship services. The music selected for these services must
be sacred and classical. The Chapel Organist must approve all
musical selections before they can be used in the service. Commercial
and popular music and some folk music will not be approved.
The Chapel Events Coordinator handles all reservations and verifies
the eligibility of all applicants. Reservations may be made no
